RigSMARTS™ 2

The objective of RigSMARTS™ 2 is to enhance the effectiveness of drilling and completion field supervisors by improving their technical knowledge and interpersonal skills. Taught in a manner easily understood by field personnel, the course utilizes practical materials, exercises, and hundreds of animated illustrations.

What You Will Learn

  • Linkages between technical and interpersonal capabilities.
  • Stuck pipe prevention, identification, and first actions to correct an event. Topics include:
    • Hole Cleaning and Packoff
    • Differential Sticking
    • Hole Geometry
  • Details of effective mud treatment, solids control, and circulating system management.
  • Casing and cement operations and calculations.
  • Performance properties of drill strings and rig actions to prevent failures.
  • Team alignment as the first step in creating an effective team and actions to sustain team performance.
  • Skills to successfully engage team members to make most effective use of their skills.
  • Visualization skills to solve well control problems through the use of animations.
  • Confidence in math skills to solve practical problems on the rig.
  • Physics and mechanical knowledge and their application on the rig.
  • Make better decisions involving risk and apply to fishing operations.
  • Directional drilling issues and their influence on related hole problems.
  • Bit technology application and bit run economics.

Who Should Attend

Agendas are typically customized to address topics relevant to Operator technical support and operations supervision personnel, Drilling Contractor rig crew and technical support personnel, and Service Company personnel including fluids / solids control, directional / BHA / MWD, downhole Tools, casing and cementing, bit, wellhead / BOP, QA/QC, and logistics support.
