The RigSMARTS™ 1 workshop improves operational safety and reduces crew turnover by providing foundational technical and interpersonal knowledge and skills to be successful in the drilling and completion industry.

What You Will Learn

  • Systems, equipment, and terminology at work on a drilling rig.
  • Drilling fluid purposes, types, and additives.
  • BOP equipment and describe function.
  • Casing and cementing in the construction of an oil and gas well.
  • Drill string components. Review how they function and how they fail.
  • Basic mathematical skills and how to apply them to problems on the rig.
  • Directional drilling applications and techniques.
  • Manage conflict and effectively resolve differences in the workplace.
  • Organization and relationships of major service companies and the products and services they provide.
  • Optional "rig field trip" allows use of practical observations to identify and discuss potential hazards and steps to corrective action.

Who Should Attend

Agendas are typically customized to address topics relevant to Operator technical support and operations supervision personnel, Drilling Contractor rig crew and technical support personnel, and Service Company personnel including fluids / solids control, directional / BHA / MWD, downhole Tools, casing and cementing, bit, wellhead / BOP, QA/QC, and logistics support.
